From 24 to 27 May 2016, The University of Almería will host the Annual Research Conference of the International Co-operative Alliance. With the slogan “New strategies: understanding and managing, cooperative transition and transformation”, the province show its powerful cooperative model. It is expected that internationally renowned speakers will attend all sessions, as well as professionals from more than 50 countries around the world, who have confirmed their attendance to this event.
The international importance which the cooperative model of the province has gained, has been a determining factor for Almería to host the world’s most important event related to the cooperative sector, and being chosen as the sole world headquarters of 2016, where this event will be held. The 2015 edition was held in Paris, organized by AgroTech and INRA, and the host of the 2017 will be the University of Wageningen, the Netherlands, all research centres of international prestige.
The agro-food industry of Almería has about 70 cooperative companies, with a turnover of 1,200 million euros and employment figures that exceed 35,000.
